Community of Practice on Competence 2.0™

Strategic Initiatives, Inc. is forming a global community of practice on transformative approaches to perpetually achieving, repurposing, and refreshing competencies in the global economy. We call this new initiative “Competence 2.0.” We are assembling a blue chip list of innovative colleges and universities, for-profit learning enterprises, technology companies, professional societies and trade associations, and employers from North and South America, Europe, the Middle East, and Australasia.

This new approach leverages communal learning and social networking tools to identify emerging competency trends early on, anticipates the implications of these trends, and then proactively responds to the need for continuously refreshing these (socially-networked) competencies so that individuals can:

  • remain competitive (e.g., job seekers and current employees need to get smarter and be more flexible in how they become competent, and how they deploy and re-purpose what they learn in current work environments to future opportunities)
  • continuously increase personal productivity
  • respond and adjust to change (whether incremental or radical)
  • collaborate more effectively and efficiently
  • make appropriate use of relevant technological and socio-technical advances (e.g., Web 2.0, ubiquitous telecomputing, and decision-support via artificial intelligence) to track and adapt to changes in the body of knowledge in their field, and to changes in the associated professional practices and competencies.
      Competence 2.0

Our thought leaders in Competence 2.0™ include Donald Norris, Paul Lefrere, Joan Leonard, and Phil Taylor.
