Roland Proulx is a distinguished strategic planner who served for two decades as Director of Planning at the Universite de Montreal. He is a widely regarded expert in Francophone higher education and has consulted in many international settings. Roland Proulx has been professor of Ancient Near Eastern Studies at the University of Montreal before becoming the 1st Director of the Planning Office of the Institution, a position he held for 20 years. In the latter capacity, Professor Proulx has contributed to establish at all levels of the organization a solid strategic planning process and a dynamic tradition of strategic watch. He has been a member of many governmental taskforces, has written many papers and reports related to planning, evaluation, performance indicators, benchmarking and strategic intelligence. Roland Proulx has served two terms as secretary of the Board of Directors of the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP), is a member of the Editorial Board of Planning for Higher Education (PHE) and has been co-founder and Vice-chair of the G10 Data Exchange Program (Canadian Research Intensive Universities). His expertise has been acknowledged internationally: he is regularly invited as a speaker, lecturer, reviewer and facilitator in many countries. Lately, he has been invited to join the International Expert Group on world university rankings. As emeritus, he presently acts as special adviser for Institutional Planning and Strategic Intelligence to the Vice-Provost and Vice-Rector (Planning) and to the Vice-Rector for International Affairs of University of Montreal.
