Successful enterprises need new kinds of "smart," flexible facilities that seamlessly support the multiple functions and activities made possible by mobile technology. Strategic Initiatives has worked with leading architects, designers, and planners to design and implement the next generation of expeditionary, fused-use facilities and to retrofit existing facilities to new uses. Moreover, the coming of ubiquitous wireless technology, distributed learning, and telecommuting will dramatically change the nature of university campuses, corporate facilities and headquarters, and association office space. Strategic Initiatives is working with leading practitioners to reinvent facilities planning in the Knowledge Age to reflect these new imperatives. We are also redeveloping campus master planning to meet this new reality. Campuses need to retrofit exsiting facilities to match the changing patterns of interactivity, engagement, and behavior of students, faculty and staff in the wireless world.
