A Variety of Learning Enterprises
Strategic Initiatives has worked with a range of technology companies in a number of sectors to develop the infrastructures and practices necessary for e-knowledge to flourish. In partnership with Knowledge Media, Inc. (KMI), Strategic Initiatives has been working to develop e-knowledge repositories/registries. KMI is supporting the development and management of the first department-wide repository/registry in the Department of Defense (associated with the Advanced Distributed Learning initiative) and plans are underway to develop similar repositories in other federal agencies. The Educational Research Service (ERS) project also involves the development of an e-knowledge repository to support K-12 education. Many of these e-knowledge repositories involve “knowledge domain indexing,” which enables our clients to taxonomically map the knowledge resources critical to their success. This mapping of knowledge domains is critical to serving the rapidly evolving needs of members, customers, learners, and other stakeholders. Dr. Norris has has supported the eKnowledgeXchange (eKX) in its efforts to develop Learning Content Management System-based capabilities for K-12 education and to coordinate the state standards for content sharing. He has consulted with the Learning Content Xchange (LCX) to develop knowledge exchanges in that will support a marketplace for e-knowledge higher education. Strategic Initiatives has worked with professional societies and trade associations to promote the notion of knowledge exchanges for their bodies of knowledge (BoK). Further, Dr. Norris has been instrumental in providing strategic guidance to an alliance of five e-learning thought leader organizations that have united to provide leading-edge e-learning solutions. These solutions depend on the availability of e-knowledge infrastructure and practices. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
